Spurs — Received 1988 third round pick (#75-Archie Marshall) from Lakers on 10/7/87 in exchange for Spurs agreeing not to exercise their right of first refusal over free agent Jeff Lamp.
The sentimental pick of the draft was made by Larry Brown, the new San Antonio coach. Brown used the last choice of the draft to take Archie Marshall, who missed out on playing for Brown's national championship team at Kansas when he tore ligaments in his left knee in December.

Archie Marshall, who couldn’t play in the 1988 national title game because of injury, nonetheless remains a fan favorite. He received a warm response from those who recognized him Saturday at the fieldhouse.
“I was pretty much happy to be there. Unfortunately, I ran through some issues with my knees, actually my entire time at the University of Kansas,” said Marshall, who works as an analyst in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Dallas.
