- Former KU player dies --- John F. Keller, a member of The University of
Kansas' 1952 men's national championship team, died Friday at 71. Keller, who
also played on the 1952 U.S. Olympic gold medal basketball team, was born in
Page City and had lived in Great Bend since graduating from KU in '52. A teacher
and coach in the Great Bend public school district, Keller is survived by his
wife, Marilyn, two sons, two daughters and seven grandchildren. Memorial funds
have been established at First Congregational United Church of Christ and the
USD 428 Education Foundation. Contributions may be sent in care of
