Greg Dreiling had two stints as a Maverick, one in 1993-94 — the year after Dallas won a league-low 11 games — and the other in 1996-97. In his first season, the Mavs won only 13 games. He averaged 2.3 points and 2.6 rebounds in 94 games as a Maverick.

Dallas won just 13 games in Greg Dreiling's first season with the team.

Years with Mavericks:

1993-94 (13-69, sixth in Midwest Division)

1996-97 (24-58, fourth in Midwest Division)

Best memory: "The brightest spot was probably when Michael Finley joined the organization in my second stint here. There we had a player you could build a team around. When he came here, he gave us a legitimate scorer."

Worst memory: "We had a comeback against Sacramento when we were down 17, under two minutes and all the reserves were in. We were able to get back to the point where Tim Legler had a 3-pointer to win the game. But he didn't hit it. That's kind of how the year went."

How 'bout these Mavericks? "This team makes you appreciate the work that the franchise has put in. The fans have stuck with us through thick and thin, and the payoff is now."

Current position: Assistant coach for player development with the Mavericks
