Hinson Lands at KU - for Now
Reported by: Dan Lucy, OzarksFirst.com. Oct 7, 2008
Former Missouri State basketball coach Barry Hinson has landed a job in the Big
12.
Hinson will join Bill Self's basketball staff at Kansas where he will be an
administrative assistant for the Jayhawks.
The University of Kansas is expected to announce the appointment next week.
Hinson was an assistant for Self at Oral Roberts.
Hinson will work in the basketball office in both an administrative
position, and also a fund raiser for the KU basketball program.
He'll be able to go to practices and games, but will not be allowed to
coach the Jayhawks players because of NCAA regulations.
Hinson was talking with ESPN about television work but he says he really
wants to coach again.
After a season with the defending national champions, Hinson feels he'll be
in position to land another coaching job.
Hinson coached Missouri State for nine seasons before being replaced in
March.
