John Cleland, a teammate of Wilt chamberlain at KU in 1957, was featured in an article in the Money Section of USA TODAY December 12, 1993. Cleland manages $2 billion in mutual funds and variable annuities for Security Benefit Group in Topeka, Kansas. The article said that Cleland learned a long time ago the value of going with a winner, quoting him as recalling “If you didn’t pass the ball to Wilt, you didn’t play much.”
